This is my attempt at a sonnet. It was written for my fiancée, Faye.
Paper Lanterns In The Breeze
There’s a force at work within my life now
And none may know its influence on me
It twists and turns and tears my heart – but how!
I might never fully, its work to see
Blowing like paper lanterns in the breeze
The layers of my soul ruffle lightly
Light falls upon my mornings such as these
And makes my once lonely heart beat brightly
The pain of love weighs heavy on my breast
I carry the anchor of its burden
My heart aches, for all to see, now confessed
Its fullest role in my life now certain
What does this life mean with such beauty in?
I now count more among my closest kin.
